It's one of the 'titifuo' (old-time) outfits that I always wanted but never really thought I'd own.
I screamed when Mama pulled this out of a pretty dusty suitcase; had the ladies from the church (who came to help us pack) really wondering what I was so excited about - to them it was a very old style looking 'fit, to me it was an incredible piece I am willing to keep forever.
This outfit had me feeling like a girl in a 1950's catalog, with its exaggerated shoulders, bold pink color and perfect over sized sailor collar - I was and still am so grateful Mama kept this!
It's one of the 'titifuo' (old-time) outfits that I always wanted but never really thought I'd own; a dream come true, to be honest.
I know many won't understand this but being able to own and style clothes that are past and gone (and may come back but in a different style) brings me joy, some kind of happiness I can't really explain. It's as though i get to be part of such a time. It's an incredible feeling.
I decided to style this with red over-sized heart shaped glasses (thanks Gila), my regular gold bangles and rings, a pair of leather shorts and a leather belt to cinch in that waist.
IT'S A LOOK!
Shooting this in a diner was a no-brainer. I wanted to feel like I was in that time, when people actually wore this out on a regular because it was normal.
Whew. Watch me rock this look in the streets of New York and beyond because why not? Let's bring this back shall we?
The road towards sustainability is not as easy as it seems but it's very important and I do believe in the ripple effect in doing the right thing, so being able to re-style my Mama's clothes and make them my own makes me really happy.
