"This idea of the woman who dresses for herself during the day but then there’s this duality at night where it becomes performative." - Daniel Roseberry

The maximalist's dream of easy access to chunky jewelry has come to life in the past couple of years. I believe this trend has been made most popular during Daniel Roseberry's time at Schiaparelli.

In his S/S 2020 Couture show (just before the pandemic hit), according to Vogue, Daniel's collection was inspired by "the double fantasy" of Elsa Schiaparelli “the incredible Surrealist parties that she used to throw—this idea of the woman who dresses for herself during the day but then there’s this duality at night where it becomes performative. I became obsessed with the contradictory personality, the introvert-extrovert idea,” he continued, “trying to embrace those two different extremes and remove all the middle, and do something that feels uniquely Schiap and personal.”
He definitely portrayed that in every sense of his description through both clothing and accessories. Massive & uniquely shaped jewelry have become a blueprint for the brand and has influenced accesssory trends all over the world - Oversized, Chunky, Mismatched, GOLD, accessories are a hit and as an African woman and a lover of doing the most, this is a trend I hope never dies.

Let's explore a few brands that are giving us exactly what we are looking for when it comes to the Chunky Jewelry trend:

  1. Adéle Dejak

  1. Mejuri

  1. Omi Woods

    4. Shop Ranaya

  1. Zara

  2. Completed Works

  1. Alaïa
