NYFW19 Review

Updated: Oct 6, 2018

Unlike the MET Gala where designers are given one theme to work around, Fashion Week is for designers to showcase new and fresh designs for the season to come; revealing trends in colors, accessories, garment silhouettes and even styling. It's during this time that I'm genuinely excited and nervous to see what designers show because it's either great, or it's not - honestly there's no in between.

I didn't get to attend any fashion event this season but I payed attention to every one of the designers' shows via vogue.com (my go to for fashion info tbh).

I remember being back home in Ghana sitting at the dinning table with my laptop watching shows from NYFW (at 12:00am because that's when it's quiet enough to live in the moment), screaming and falling in love with the amazing works of designers such as Oscar De La Renta, Carolina Herrera, Marc Jacobs, DVF, because I knew without a doubt that a lot of thought and work had to have gone into each look; they didn't disappoint. But over the years, I'm not sure if designers feel like their name is enough to just throw fabric on a model to strut down the runway and have us love it because we've loved them (the designers) since day 1, because I personally see a lack in genuine creative thinking in production this season.

Yes, im looking for over the top creative work out here because these are the people I'm looking up to.

ANYWAY, below are my Favourite looks from the 5 collections I really Loved from NYFW spring 19 (ready-to-wear). I will have a separate post for the trends that run through as well as the amazing street style fashuuun...

Enjoy
